Article Processing Charges

Article Processing Charges Policy

To support the costs associated with editorial management, peer review, professional production, online publication, digital preservation, website maintenance, and long-term accessibility, Biomedical Update charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) for manuscripts accepted for publication.

Article Processing Charge

  • APC: USD 500 (Five Hundred United States Dollars) per accepted article.

The APC is payable only after the manuscript has successfully completed the peer-review process and has been formally accepted for publication. Submission of a manuscript is free of charge, and there are no fees for the initial editorial assessment or peer review.

What the APC Covers

The APC supports the following publishing services:

  • Editorial assessment and manuscript management
  • Double-blind peer review
  • Professional copyediting and proofreading
  • Typesetting and article production
  • DOI registration
  • Online publication
  • Long-term digital archiving and preservation
  • Website hosting and maintenance
  • Metadata preparation and indexing support
  • Permanent open access to the published article

No Hidden Charges

Biomedical Update maintains a transparent pricing policy. Apart from the stated APC, the journal does not charge any additional fees for:

  • Manuscript submission
  • Editorial evaluation
  • Peer review
  • Article processing before acceptance
  • Online publication
  • Color figures
  • Supplementary files

Any future changes to the APC will be announced on the journal's website before implementation and will not affect manuscripts already under consideration.

Waiver and Discount Policy

Biomedical Update is committed to supporting researchers worldwide. Partial or full APC waivers or discounts may be considered in exceptional circumstances, including:

  • Authors from low-income countries.
  • Authors demonstrating genuine financial hardship.
  • Invited articles commissioned by the Editorial Board.
  • Other cases approved by the Editor-in-Chief and the Publisher.

Requests for APC waivers or discounts must be submitted before or at the time of manuscript submission. The editorial evaluation and peer-review process are completely independent of the author's ability to pay, and waiver requests have no influence on editorial decisions.

Payment Policy

Payment instructions will be provided only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication. Failure to complete the APC payment within the specified timeframe may delay publication.

Refund Policy

The APC is generally non-refundable once article production has commenced. Refund requests will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as duplicate payments or publication errors attributable to the journal. Details are provided in the journal's Refund Policy.

Editorial Independence

Payment of the APC does not guarantee acceptance for publication. Editorial decisions are based solely on the manuscript's scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope. The peer-review process is conducted independently of any financial considerations.
